The South Face

This is a single span bascule bridge. The approach span, behind the control tower, crosses Wisconsin Avenue.

The Shoop Building

The postcard image is from the State Street Bascule bridge from many years ago. The turret is gone from the Shoop Building, so is the bridge. Note the overhead spans on the bridge that carry the catenary for streetcars.

The Same View Today

Well, more or less. Note the sign, above the one that says, "Stop Here On Red" that proclaims that this is the Airborne Memorial Bridge.
