John James Audubon Bridge in Louisiana is the Longest Cable-Stayed Bridge in Western Hemisphere, will link Pointe Coupee and West Feliciana Parishes. Construction crews have now connected both sides and bridge is expected to open in late summer 2011

500th Avenue Underpass: Eastbound UP coal train at R-38 underpass, Ames, Iowa
Thursday, January 5, 2012, 3:45 PM. An eastbound Union Pacific coal train crosses the bridge over Story County's R-38 (also known as County Line Road, Boone County "Y" Avenue, and North 500th Avenue) led by UP 5717 and UP 5991. The DPU in the rear is UP 5997, just 6 numbers after the second engine; not as exciting as consecutive numbers, but not so bad either.

Gregson Street Guillotine: Example Truck Crash
Today (8/3/11) this boxtruck smashed into the Gregson St trestle and got wedged under the bridge. They deflated the tires and one of Big John's towing trucks pulled the box truck out. Later, Norfolk Southern sent a crew over to inspect the trestle and the crash beam. Sorry - only one angle ... the other camera was not working.

Engle Mill Road Covered Bridge: Engle Mill Road Covered Bridge movie, Greene County, OH 2.AVI
I stopped by this bridge late in the day, and the first thing I heard when I stepped out of the car was a series of bangs. I thought someone was in the bridge banging on something, but closer inspection proved it to be a wind-aided noise. This bridge is in pretty rough shape. Get there soon if it's on your list.

Sections of the Walnut Street Bridge in Harrisburg, PA are carried away by flood waters and ice floes after the North American Blizzard of 2001 and subsequent thaw and rain. It crumples under the Market Street Bridge (3:05), the next bridge downstream in the Susquehanna.

This is the bridge shown on a previous video that Amtrak uses for its Lincoln service into St. Louis. The bridge history is given by a tour guide aboard a sightseeing cruise of St. Louis. Two trains are also shown on the bridge as we pass under it!

Crown Point Bridge: Lake Champlain Bridge, Crown Point, NY Demolition
The 80 year old Champlain Bridge in Crown Point, NY was demolished by Idaho based Advanced Explosives Demolition. Opened to the public on Aug. 26, 1929 the bridge served as a major connection between New York and Vermont. Plans are already underway for the replacement bridge to be opened in the summer of 2011.

Advance Mills Road Bridge: Advance Mills Bridge Removal
The removal of the main span of the Advance Mills Bridge on 5/28/09. The bridge spans the North Fork of the Rivanna River near Charlottesville, VA and has stood in this location since at least 1942. The estimated weight was 54,000 pounds, but remarks from the crane operator from across the river indicated that it weighed more.

From KETC, LIVING ST. LOUIS Producer Jim Kirchherr travels across the McKinley Bridge—the third bridge to span the Mississippi River and connect to St. Louis. The bridge opened in 1910, just north of downtown St. Louis for both automobile and train traffic, but was shut down in 2001 due to deterioration. Now the bridge is being restored for bikes and automobiles.

Mexican Canyon Trestle: Mexican Canyon Railroad Trestle
This is a wooden railroad trestle built in 1900 in the Sacramento Mountains of New Mexio for the lumber industry. Today it is a tourist destination that is rapidly deteriorating. The US Forest Service, in partnership with the Mescalero Apache, is attempting to preserve this historic structure.
