Big Vermillion River Bridge

I was born and raised about 20 miles from this bridge. In August 1999 I returned to photograph this Eugene Bridge from the Southwest corner ( best location ). The building next to it (also painted Red ) is the Big Bridge Restaurant. I have this photo ( 36 in. x 56 in. )on display at The Woodburn Art Center in Woodburn, Oregon from Jan. 4--26, 2008, $ 800.00 each. J.J. Daniel was the builder in 1873 and he built several other covered bridges in this vicinity, some larger and some smaller. My grandfather, Perry Myers, rode horse and buggy over this bridge for many years.

The new building on the south side of this bridge could very well be a covered bridge restaurant.

I believe this is the Eugene Covered Bridge on the north side of Eugene/Cayuga. Some records and books indicate that it was built in 1873 while others say it was built in 1885. Most books say it was bypassed way back in 1973. I also think the bridge was rehabilitated again at some time. Whats hard for me to remember if there was a new building of some sort on the south end of the bridge and what it was. There were a lot of cars parked there when I was at the bridge.
