Cloverleaf Railroad "Hill Track" Wildcat Creek Bridge
Lost Timber stringer bridge over Wildcat Creek on former Nickel Plate Road Railroad(nee Toledo St. Louis and Western aka Cloverleaf) in Kokomo. Small ditch with it's own steel stringer bridge formerly located at East approach for Creek bridge.

Built to connect the Cloverleaf main line to Continental Steel, this bridge was removed sometime in the 1970's. Nickel Plate Road later accessed Continental via the Pennsylvania RR's Kokomo Belt to the East and this bridge was no longer needed.

Defenbaugh Street Viaduct
Bridge over Defenbaugh Street with low clearance, mostly wooden construction. Currently out of service, but rails remain.
Currently Norfolk Southern Railway property from this bridge West past Russiaville is embargoed, and Winamac Southern Railway's section heading back into Kokomo is also out of service.
Very low underpass that has been undercut many times to allow some dump truck traffic to go under, despite being hit many times. Another similiar structure on rail line just East of here has been removed, so I am suprized this one has survived.

Site of first Kokomo city Swimming area before Seashore(now Kokomo Beach) was built. Now Duck pond. Bridge was single lane and destroyed by trash truck trying to access other side of this dead end road within Highland Park. Now a footbridge at site.

Most don't know about this bridge which is bordered on it's North by Omnisource(Mervis scrap yard) and an old factory on the South side. No railroad traffic over this bridge in long time. Remote, and unseen except from creek.

Built on a stub off of the Kokomo Belt's line into Continental Steel, this track went to the former Public Service Indiana(now DUKE) site on Defenbaugh Street. Tracks were pulled a few years ago. Sits on Highland Parks West side.

Single lane underpass with low clearance that was often hit by trucks causing misalignment. City of Kokomo tried for years to get Norfolk Southern(during their ownership) to put at grade crosssing. Central Railroad finally allowed city to remove.

Unknown builder, replaced covered bridge formerly at this location. This bridge survived the great flood of 1913 due to Lake Erie and Western Railroad loading bridge down with loaded coal cars.

This unique structure was rare as it not only had a creek it crossed, but an Interurban line as well(Indiana Railroad, Frankfort and Kokomo Traction, others). Was supposedly upgraded sometime in the 1980's for future traffic.

This bridge is located about where currrently Central Railroad's property ends and Norfolk Southern's begins on this line to Tipton that was once part of the Peru and Indianapolis Railroad one of the first in Indiana.

Forgotten structure over Kokomo Creek just off CR 300 East near Center Indiana. Tracks have been gone since 1970's. Once part of Pennsylvania RR's Richmond Branch, a heavy duty passenger route between Cincinnatti and Chicago.

Built to cross Sycamore and the Kokomo Street Railways, this bridge was known for it's black block lettering on either side spelling PENNSYLVANIA out with the bridge painted silvery grey. Kokomo repainted in last 5 years and added outragous sign.

Vermont Covered Bridge
Smith through truss bridge over Wildcat Creek, now Kokomo Resevoir on Road 500 East in Kokomo. Moved to Kokomo.
Replaced by new bridge, bridge moved to Kokomo's Highland Park across Kokomo Creek.
Replaced 1958. Kokomo Reservoir was being constructed and this bridge had to go. Originally located near Vermont, Indiana(Howard County), Moved to Kokomo's Highland Park where it still resides today. Pedestrian use only.
