Cave-in-Rock Ferry
Posted June 23, 2009, by Barb from Illinois (kcbaleroy [at] yahoo [dot] com)

Have taken this ferry many times. It is on the old Dixie Bee Highway that went from Chicago via IL Rt. 1 to Florida. Step father took this route in the 1920s when his family moved south. When you come back to Illinois from Kentucky, you get a good view of the Cave, which is where the ferry and the town got its name. The cave was featured in the film "How the West Was Won", and was actually used as stopping point for travelers on the river--who were robbed there. Now it's a nice park, and a nice place to visit.
